Ken Nathens is the founding partner of Nathens, Siegel. He was called to the Ontario Bar in 1994.

Ken is particularly interested in ensuring that each client that he represents achieves the best possible result for their particular situation, in the most effective and efficient manner.  He has considerable experience in determining which approach may be best for each client. He recognizes that not all family law issues, family budgets, and family law clients are the same.

Ken’s background is in all areas of Ontario family law, including negotiation, mediation, arbitration, and court litigation. Ken has appeared at all court levels in Ontario, including the Ontario Court of Appeal. He has written extensively on Ontario family law issues, including articles published in Divorce Magazine and interviewed by AdvocateDaily  relating to common law property issues, spousal support and law reform.  He regularly contributes articles on family law issues to the Lawyer’s Daily. Ken has lectured on family law topics for members and staff of the Ontario Federation of Labour, through Riverdale Mediation, and enjoys regularly guest lecturing to law students at the University of Windsor, Ottawa University and Osgoode Hall Law School.  Ken has been quoted both in the National Post and Law Times relating to spousal support and common law family issues.

Ken holds both a Civil Law degree and a Common Law degree from McGill University where he graduated in 1992 with Upper Class Honours. In 2010, he was certified by the Law Society of Upper Canada as a specialist in the practice of family law. In the same year he was appointed a Dispute Resolution Officer of the Ontario Superior Court (Family Division) in Newmarket where he assisted litigants to narrow or resolve issues in the early stages of court proceedings. In 2014 he was awarded a Master’s Degree in Family Law from Osgoode Hall School of Law.

Ken enjoys spending time with his family, which includes his wife Jodi, two daughters and a step-daughter, and Oskar and Quincy, his canine “boys”. He likes to work out and to travel.   Ken has become passionate about the French language and has pursued French language studies both in Toronto and abroad in his quest to become equally at ease in both of Canada’s official languages. Ken is on the Board of the Castle Hill Community Association and is quickly learning about engineering and repair issues as well as the joys of condominium type living.
